I welcome an MIT Haiti initiative as MIT gets things done.
As a former teacher, a software engineer in the states and now a pastor in Haiti, I am looking into ways to use technology to help young haitians have access to higher education. I am now exploring a virtual university site. It means providing a computer lab with high speed internet access at a very low low nominal cost to motivated students wanting to learn. Our challenge: find a good foundation to build upon in order not to start from scratch nor spend a lot of money acquiring. Any ideas, info, etc. you can share?
