Sergey Galliard
Sergey W. Gaillard was born in Port-au-Prince Haiti in 1963. He grew up in the capital. At age 19 he worked as a receptionist to pay for his studies in accounting and management. Subsequently, he was hired as a financial specialist at the US Embassy and was quickly promoted to supervisor of the Budget and Fiscal section. His entrepreneurship skills lead him to open his own business at age 33. His company Compustore, rapidly became a leader in information technology by providing quality services in computer repairs, networking, training, etc. thereby grabbing a large slice of the computer market in a couple of years. In 2004, he extended his business by offering low cost internet connection by satellite delivering services to remote area of the country. He further extended his business by opening cellular phones stores. After developing alliances with international stakeholders, he created Educatech, a technology company focusing on education, training more than 1000 teacher and offering low cost computers to classrooms attended by poor children of Haiti.
Following the catastrophic earthquakes of January 12 that destroyed thousands of houses, he started the construction of low cost homes with used containers, thereby bringing innovative ideas in the construction business of Haiti. He has been nominated multiple times as an example of success in the emerging market in Port-au-Prince.
